I figured out why Kmart took down the monthly sales ad off of the Kmart.com website months ago. I was shocked to find out that lots of Kmart stores have some prices ringing up full price that should be on sale and hiding the monthly sales ad so you might not notice . It is normal for a lot of retailers to have different prices on normal prices but I never heard of a store sneaking in higher prices on items that should be on sale. After you read this you might want to complain to Kmart corporate that you want the sales ads in the store and you would like the same sales as prices as other local stores in your area. Even if your store is not testing you will still want to let them know that you want future ads. If their test goes good they could pull this off at more stores or even worse to all of them.
Kmart admits to sales ringing up higher in no ad test stores
I was recently told by a Kmart employee that my Kmart store is testing to be a “NO AD STORE”. And that “some prices may ring up wrong” and I would have to “price match with a Kmart Ad” to get the correct sales price in the Kmart ads. So I asked her “What is a No Ad Store?” and she explained that Kmart is testing out not having the sales ads available for shoppers in certain test stores and they want people to view the Kmart sales ad online at Kmart.com instead of in the store. I said “Kmart.com has not had the monthly ad for months. How are we suspossed to see that ad?” She changed the subject and said that alot of other customers are complaining and most of them are elderly. I said “Do you know what other stores I can go to get both ads at?” Of course she had no idea and suggested I call them. I did call the nearest Kmart to the test store and they did have both sales ads. So they are not a test store and will shop there as needed.
Several other stores nation wide are popping up with customers complaining about there “No Ad Store”. I did see another unhappy Kmart shopper complaining on Kmart’s Face Book page under the Vistor Post Category (on a computer look for a small box area on the left side) she was in Florida and I am in Michigan.
What is a Kmart no ad test store
When you walk in to a Kmart store that is testing no ads they will be missing two sales ads. Both the monthly and weekly sales ads will not be in the front of the store. Or your store could be missing the monthly sales ad that other stores have for everyone. If you ask for a sales ad they are not supposed to give you a sales ad. My store tried to phase out the monthly ad first. The monthly sales ads always have different longer lasting sales that are usually labeled as blue price drops through out the store. Again I was told that the sales prices are ringing up wrong at my test store and I could price match with a Kmart Ad but they would not give to it me.
My store phased out the monthly ad first over a month ago and I thought they were just being lazy. They told me Kmart was no longer doing monthly ads. I told them that that is not true and I saw pictures of it on the internet on told them what the front of the ad looked like. They then said that they would look to see if it was in an unopened box. Later they found one and gave it to me. When I walked around the store that same day I noticed they also did not clearly mark a lot of the monthly price drops on the shelves with tags. I did not check all of the sales I just happened to notice some price mistakes labeled wrong. I did not price scan them because I thought they had to be on sale because the monthly sales ad says so and I thought they were being lazy.
I also want to mention that Kmart’s mobile website stopped work on my Samsung Galaxy smart phone way before Christmas. So I can not view the ad in the store or access the best parts of Kmart’s app. I remember seeing other user complaints in coupon groups on Face Book. Kmart’s response was nothing was wrong with their mobile site. So some people can not view the ad on their smart phones.
Finally thank you for reading this Kmart consumer warning. I did warn Kmart that I was going to warn the coupon community and we are not going to fall for this. But it still angers me to think of all of the shoppers who are unfairly paying full price at the test stores on some items and have no idea. I noticed that the activity director at my Grandma’s elderly apartment building often takes residents to my test store, too. Be sure to warn your friends, family, and your local community to watch out. You can easily avoid these test stores by calling Kmart locations to find a local Kmart store that has both the weekly and monthly ad available in-store for shoppers and then avoid any no ad test stores.
How to voice your opinion
My no ad test store said all complaints should be directed to Kmart’s headquarters. You can reach them at the complaint customer service line 877-878-3695 , corporate # 866-562-7848 (they might transfer you to correct dept.) or posting a visitor comment on their Face Book page here. Or you could share this info to warn other people. Some negative feedback to Kmart from consumers might make Kmart stop this test or avoid it from going nationally to all stores.
