I have been using this awesome App since 2014 to easily help lower my costs for my Holiday Online Shopping Costs. Here is my quote from my original testing of the app:
When I first started testing this app for the website it took me only a couple weeks to earn enough points for a free $3 Amazon.com gift card and I am close to the $5 Amazon gift card payout!
Updated Nov. 2015: Pay Pal changed the points needed to Redeem gift cards and gave us way more gift card options once you get to the $5 Card Rewards or higher! This will give you more options when bargain shopping.
You can still easily get free gift cards fast by scanning short receipts.
Good news, if you do not want an Amazon.com gift card you can now Cash in points for lots of other Retail gift cards of $5 or more! My favorite options are Walmart and CVS. See picture above for all of the new options.
Changes / $ reward I noticed are:
If you are saving points for a payout $5 or under you no longer get a better pay out per point for saving points.
$1 Amazon Card Reward = 400 points/ $ reward
$3 Amazon Card Reward = 400 points / $ reward
$5 Gift Card Reward = 400 points / $ reward
$25 Restraunt.com Reward = 88 points / $ reward
$50 Restraunt.com Reward = 70 points / $ reward
$50 Diners & a Movie Reward = 110 points / $ reward
$25 Gift Card Reward = 300 points / $ reward
$50 Gift Card reward = 250 points / $ reward
$100 Gift Card Reward = 190 points / $ reward
Summary of changes
➡👎First, If you are saving for a quick $1, $3, or $5 Payout saving your points for a higher payout will not help you get a better reward faster anymore.
➡ 👍It looks like the points/ $ reward needed to redeem Restraunt.com gift cards lowered way way down!
➡👍The higher rewards are still better if you save your points and we have better pay out options to help us use rewards with sales.
What is Receipt Pal?
Receipt Pal is an App that pays you with gift cards to scan short receipts from restraunts, gas stations, retail stores of all types, online merchants, car dealerships. I love the wider range of receipts you can scan to get points. Good news for Extreme Couponers, the points given per receipt are not based on how much you spend! I have tested this out with Receipts where my total paid was $0 after coupons and it worked great. My favorite part is I can scan tons of receipts fast once a week fast. And then later in week, I scan a couple more IF I get any receipts that do not get validated. If you are too busy to scan receipts you will love Receipt Pal because you can easily scan receipts only once a month!
Warning the points and unfinished point cards can expire if you do not scan any receipts in 90 days!
At least scan the receipts once a month so you do not get close to losing your great rewards.
Receipt Pal 101 – How to use Receipt Pal
Receipt Pal gives new users five 100 point cards. Then they hand out up to two new 100 point cards every Monday.
Each point card has 4 blue squares with a white camera on them. You click one of the cameras and scan your receipt. Make sure your device has a good internet connection. I like to also turn on my Flash Light App (Update: I now use my Flash Light Widget that came with my Samsung Android phone. I deleted my Flash light app to download other apps) before scanning receipts if you have bad lighting. Check the picture to see if you can see the merchant name, purchase date, and total price are clearly visable on the receipt. You can redo the picture if it does not look good. Once you submit it the box will have a green picture of a clock and you will see a message saying “Got,it thanks! Stand by for validation.”
Continue scanning all of your short receipts till your punch cards are full or waiting for validation. Try to fill up all of your cards so that you can get double entries into the weekly Sweepstakes Drawing.
Receipt Pal Weekly Bonus Sweepstakes
Every validated receipt gets you in an entry to win a weekly bonus of $250. If you complete all of your cards before they replenish (on Monday), every validated receipt will get you double entries into the $250 Sweepstakes. I wish we could see some of the winners like some of the other $ Apps. Receipt Pal says they notify winners through the App or email to protect the users privacy.
Waiting for Receipt Pal to Validate Receipts
Then you wait for Receipt Pal team to approve the receipts. When they approve the receipt you will get a green check mark in the box. Once all of your four boxes are checked off on a punch card you get 100 points for each card. The app says they try to validate the receipts in 24 hours but it does take longer when they get high volumes of receipts all at once. I was testing the App scanning my receipts on Monday and Tuesdays (right after they give out the new point cards) and it was taking longer than 24 hours for them to validate the receipts.
Checking the App later
I like to check the App 1 or 2 days later to see if my point cards are full. If you get an error where a receipt did not work. You can scan it again or just scan another short receipt in so you can finish filling your point cards before they pass out the new point cards on Monday.
How do I snap long receipts?
I recommend not to waste your time scanning the long receipts. The app claims they take long receipts, but the app only allows one picture per receipt. There is currently no option to add another section to the receipt like most other Scan Recipt Apps. The App claims you can lay the long receipt on the ground and take a picture of the receipt from far away and they can scan in close to see the receipt. But, if you try they will send you an error message of unreadable receipt. I am an Extreme Couponer so I have tons of short receipts to scan to easily fill up my cards easily every week and have tons of extra receipts for the Sweepstakes entries. I actually like scanning the short receipts a lot better than the long ones with the other apps. Since, this App is new, I will wait to a new version of the App comes out before I will even try scanning the long receipts.
Available for iPhone and Android users. The apps does not mention being available for tablets but I did find it on my iPad (you will need iOS 6.0 or later to download). The receipts also have to be in US currency. Find the App in the Apple’s App Store or on Android’s Play Store.
There is now a waiting list before you can start scanning receipts
Thank you to my Face Book friend El Cid for the screen shot of the “Hold Tight” waiting list message. And for also helping by testing the waiting time and she only waited 4 days . After you download the app you may get a “Hold Tight” message saying they are temporarily out of slots for new users. Receipt Pal will email you later when a spot becomes available for you if you register with them after installing the app.
If you already have been using the app and had to reinstall it for some reason (like you got a new phone) then you would register with the original email you gave Receipt Pal when you first signed up to access your account. The waiting list is only for new users.
How to Contact Receipt Pal
If you have a comment, suggestion, or question for Pay Pal you can email them at email@example.com . You can also click the feedback button in the settings of the App by clicking the gear symbol on the lower right hand side of the app screen.
What do they do with my receipts?
Receipt Pal anonymously combines your receipt data with other Receipt Pal users to delelop market research to help brands create better products. Your info you submit is private and is not shared with other parties.
